Description: Date taken May 19th, 2016. H. 12, 30. I spent all day in Val d’Orcia for taking pictures. That day started good: beautiful weather, beautiful and vivid tones. Just a little bit cold for a fresh wind coming from North but this helped sky to stay clear, blue with white clouds. About at noon weather changed in a while. Wind stopped and it started raining. After it appeared this scenery (a red field of poppies) in front of me. Time: half past 12. A few photographers that appeared half an hour before disappeared at first rain-drops. What a luck, I thought! No flies and bees inside my compo! I was still with my camera on tripod and under a useful umbrella.
Pentax LX and Pentax Zoom Lens 40-80 mm at 40 mm. Skylight filter only. Kodak slide chrome 100 ISO. F 5,6. Shutter speed: 1/60. I took several captures at different speed but I prefer this one a little bit underexposed to enhace sky. Shutter release cable to avoid vibrations. I set focus at infinity so I have not worked using hyperfocal. All subjects were not too close to me.
Slidechrome scanned using EPSON Perfection 3200. File just a little bit tweaked in PS (levels, curves). I cropped lower part of foreground and top of sky so to enhace horizontal slant.
Place: somewhere in Val d’Orcia, Tuscany, Italy.
PS It was still raining in the far distance while taking this picture.
